Make that 8 people. I ride the bus and am often a pedestrian. Yes there are a lot of pedestrians/bus riders not only in Mentor but all over There are many stores/businesses/social service agencies (specifically Neighboring) and a sidewalk would really help alleviate the issue of disabled people who have ambulatory or mobility problems. The one thing though that I really request too though is those sidewalks need to be kept shoveled regularly during the winter by the businesses that own them

Mentor has been very progressive in promoting bicycle paths and making Mentor accessible for walking, biking. A sidewalk along Heisley Road would continue this forward thinking.

This does seem like a good suggestion. Walking down from the many businesses to the food servers at the North end of Heisley would make sense, especially with summer coming and the need that all of us have for getting exercise. Perhaps it would also be helpful to talk with Laketran about the possibility of a bus moving from Mentor ave to Diamond Center. This would open up a lot of possibilities for people without cars,and it would be nice to see less auto congestion in this area. Thanks for the opportunity to share these reflections.

Fewer cars on Heisley Road, less pollution in the air, workers access to their jobs, consumer access to businesses on Heisley Road. This is a simplistic overview of what sidewalks on Heisley Road could offer.
Has the city asked the businesses if they would consider an assessment? Has the city tried to work with Laketran to develop this area?
Sidewalks benefit commercial areas every bit as much as residential areas. Why put sidewalks on section of Heisley between Jackson and Rt. 20 and not up to Rt. 2?
Not putting the sidewalks in when Heisley was widened is very confusing.

I would like to say here Laura that I think that this is a problem that really needs to be fixed too. Mentor has a lot of sidewalks and they all cost money, so why do some get sidewalks where others do not? I look at the stretch from Hendricks to Heisley and think why did that not also get the vote for a sidewalk? Why did any place get a vote for a side walk? The answer is not just about money but the need, and I strongly feel with the traffic and such, heisley needs a side walk. God bless.

sidewalks are typically installed by the property owner, not the city...if they are required in a particular area...the City forced Honda of Mentor to put sidewalks in by their dealership....how many people do you see walking on Market st? there are businesses and restaurants in that area. a bus route i would agree with, but I do not see the need to install sidewalks so that 5 people per year could use them...there are more important issues in our city like, say, for instance, hhmmm, J O B S!

My understanding is that without sidewalks, there will be no bus route.

It is not resolved, but I don't see a resolution.

Outlaw all motorized vehicles....Sell only bicycles.....(and (electric) bus transportation only.)
