There are at least two storm drains and several hundred feet of sidewalk that are covered with red clay from the recent rain. There is a small hill next to the sidewalk along Lineberry Drive, the red clay washed down, onto the sidewalk, into the road, and is not clogging the storm water drains.
The sidewalk extends around the curve to the south / east.

There is an erosion and sediment control problem associated with this concern. There is several hundred feet where a small slope that runs along the sidewalk on Lineberry Dr. is eroding (rill erosion) due to a lack of ground cover. The sediment is being deposited along the sidewalk and getting into the storm drains located on Lineberry Dr. near Ramsgate St.
The property is owned by Wake Healthcare Properties Inc. that operates a nursing home on the property (2420 Lake Wheeler Rd.) that was constructed in 2005. It appears they probably never had much success in stabilizing this slope (it’s in a shaded area along the tree line at the rear of the property) and may have made some attempts to just cover it with pine straw which has washed away over time.
We will issue a report for inadequate ground cover sufficient to restrain erosion due to the impacts to the public right of way and storm drains. Once we confirm the receipt date the property owner is in notice of the required corrective actions they will have 14 days from the receipt date to apply permanent ground cover to the denuded area and clean up any remaining sediment that has been deposited along the sidewalk and street.
