I remember in Driver Training that you can legally pass a left turning vehicle on the right side of it, as long as it is safe to so. Unless that has changed.

It has always been legal to pass on the right, basic rules of the road. Posts like this are the reason i believe everybody should do a drivers retest every ten years, and if you fail you should lose your license until you can pass the test, our roads would be safer and would flow a lot more smoothly.

This posting is BS. The person that posted this should take his or her drivers test over or get out from behind the wheel. the road would be a lot safer.

But remember - if you do pass on the right - and get in an accident or hit a pedestrian, you are in the wrong and then it is illegal! ;)

The rule is : If the vehicle immediately behing the vehicle turning left goes around on the right then the following vehicles can also proceed on the right. I was told this by an enforcement officer as it prevents rear end collisions.I am concerned about the 15th ave east and muzzy drive turn. This happens all the time and with the school right at that intersection I fear that there will be a major incident one day.

Funny... a few weeks a cop past me on the right as I was making a left turn at the central / 28th street intersection. They were not in pursuit, as their lights were not on and they were travelling at quite a fast speed when they went around me. hmmmm i think enforcement maybe need a quick refresher on rules of the road!

not once did I make mention of turning. This happens at crosswalks and other intersections all the time. It is infact illegal to pass on the right unless the vehicle is making a left hand turn. Perhaps all you critics out there should get your drivers licenses revoked.

when I took my training here is what I was taught:
if there is only one through lane, and that lane is occupied by a vehicle you may ONLY pass on the right if:
1) you yield to All vehicles and pedestrians
2) you can ensure that there is no oncoming vehicles or pedestrians, by slowing down, and ONLY proceeding when you ascertain it is safe to do so
3) you are turning RIGHT immediately after the intersection, and will NOT be returning to the driving lane

I personally have seen two separate near collisions with Children PUSHING their bikes through an intersection crosswalk, with vehicles going around the right side of the stopped vehicle, neither one slowing down one bit!

are you in such a hurry that you need to kill someone to get somewhere else 15 seconds early?
