Good Morning,

We understand your concern and are aware of the accident history along this curve on Concord Road. We've worked with one of the property owners that had an impacted property and made several improvements this year along this approach including chevron alignment signs, a permanent radar sign, curve ahead sign with an advisory speed limit of 35 mph and raised pavement markers. Unfortunately, a speed limit change can not be done at the local level. This has to be reviewed and approved by the state (Georgia Department of Transportation). However, I will review the accident that occurred last night to see the nature of the accident and if there are any further improvements that can be done by the Engineering Department.

We have lived here for almost 10 years, and we have seen some improvements with signage. However, it doesn’t seem to be enough to truly calm the issues we have seen and heard. The accidents seems to be getting worse with more severe injuries. There seems to be a lack of awareness of how tight the curve is from both directions. Last night, the driver hopped the median and hit a car head on. I understand the speed limit is difficult. Could we look at adding larger chevrons and more within the median? The accidents seem to happen more frequently at night from both sides. I’m wonder if there is more we could do so the drivers understand it is truly a bad curve.

I really appreciate it Ashley. It was heartbreaking to see the people hurt last night. I knew it was bad as soon as we heard it. My hope is that a few extra changes could make a big difference for the drivers and walkers living here or for those visiting and passing through ❤️
