Absolutely. It seems some people need to take another look through a driver's education rule book. And while we're on the subject of driving and schools, I can't believe how many people ignore school zones when the lights are flashing. Only once have I seen someone pulled over by the police.

Definitely good advice! Too many people have forgotten the rules, making the roads even more hazardous than they would have to be. The same things happens on Rt. 20 in the Madison/Perry area. Drivers on the opposite side of the road are erroneously stopping for school buses going the other direction. Now, when it comes to emergency vehicles, the rules apply to traffic no matter which direction you are traveling. Pull over (safely) and stop until the emergency vehicle passes, and then (safely) pull back into traffic. Just plain common sense!

I think what may be confusing people , is because they see that stop sign,and its on both sides, so it kinda looks like your supposed to stop in either direction. I think way too much is being made of this! Maybe if people would focus on the constant cell phone user! I get more aggravated with the person whose trying to drive while gabbing away, than Iam with a driver who stops for a bus!

You need to say on a four lane divided highway, you dont not need to stop for a school bus with its hazards on, due to the fact that the drivers do not let children cross 4 lanes of traffic and the only pick up and drop off on resident side only. Children are not permitted to cross 4 lanes of traffic. I dont understand why people freak out when they see a schools bus, or a police caar.

EMS? Time for my two cents. I'm a police officer, and the scariest thing I do every day is run with lights and siren because people will not get out of the way, pull in front of me, or are in front of me and simply stop. When EMS, fire or police are running code (lights and siren), PULL TO THE RIGHT AND STOP. And if you're on a four-lane roadway like SOM Center Road in Willoughby that does not have a center median, and the emergency vehicle is coming toward you, don't assume it's okay to keep going like it is with a school bus. You don't know where that emergency vehicle is heading. It may be getting ready to turn left into a driveway or road in front of you. If the 20 seconds it'll take to pull over and stop makes you that late to wherever you're going, you need to leave earlier!

Living out of state for a while I couldn't remember what the law was and so at first stopped with everyone else -because heck all of these people couldn't have come from out of state right? Well when I renewed my plates there it was on the bag that the new plates came in - saved me the time of looking it up when I remembered to. So on rt 20 in Ohio you do not need to stop (if the bus is going the other direction). We do not make our kids cross a road like that. But in other states you do have to stop when the bus does because the kids do cross a road like that.
