Excellent idea BJG, do you know where I can find info on these systems?

Well, Labor Day is a good weekend to go shopping around - might get a good sale. Check any store from Best Buy to Costco to WalMart, and everything in between. You can certainly do some online browsing to start, get an idea of what brands and models get good reviews by other consumers. Some systems hook up to your computer, other require a tv hookup. (If you doubt your ability to hook it up yourself, call your electrician and have him do it.) Some have 4 cameras, some have 8. Do some Googling before you hit the stores, so that you know what to expect, and what questions to ask.
