  These trees provide shade and beauty. As one of the volunteer plant caretakers for the Splash Pad across the street, I would advocate trimming, not removal. Also, I believe these trees were put in/paid for by the Lakeshore Business Association, not the City. They are part of a beautification effort on that street using trees, raised plantings and decorated trash receptacles.

  Dear Anonymous, If you look at the results of a community survey that the Grand Lake Neighbors group did last year, lots of people talked about how the mature trees on Lakeshore create a more attractive and pedestrian-friendly neighborhood shopping district - so removing trees shouldn't be on the table. In fact, unless they're dead or hazardous, it's illegal to do so. On the other hand, selective pruning is actually advantageous and volunteers depending on the circumstances, can sometimes help out. Assuming you're going to be the new tenant in the Subway space, we look forward to meeting you and offering assistance if possible with this and any other issues.

  Thank you for the information. We absolutely want to conserve the tree. Does anyone know who will we contact regarding trimming?
