  This has been a much bigger problem since Snake Road has been closed. There is no clear right of way.

  With all the Montclair road closures, this has become a major thoroughfare. There are near miss accidents daily due to three of four directions not having stop or yield signs. We need some better traffic control signage before someone gets hurt.

  I agree 100%! I have had many close calls here. People don't know it's a blind intersection and go right through it. I stop automatically. Very scary. Thanks!

  Very dangerous. I have seen many almost hits. Since the city has been on notice about this problem for a while, might the city have some liability exposure should someone get killed??

  Please make this a temporary 4 way stop until the road closure at Shepherd Canyon is over. There are too many people unfamiliar with the intersection and an accident is likely.

  Agree we need an improved traffic control mechanism! Maybe 4 way stop. I live on Colton 2 blocks from this intersection and have witnessed far too many close calls. We can’t wait for an injury or fatal accident to make this improvement.

  The existing stop signs are adequate because there is no reason for traffic to stop while going around the bend. What is needed at the intersection is a dashed double-yellow line connecting the existing solid double yellow lines on Colton and Heartwood.

  Agree with David R. I have lived here since 1984 and have never seen a problem. Also original poster is incorrect as both Heartwood westbound and Colton northbound have stop signs. The only danger is if someone coming downhill on Colton wants to turn left onto Heartwood or straight onto Colton. Perhaps a yield to oncoming traffic sign for those rare instances. Mostly the issue is drivers cutting the corner into oncoming lane, hence the yellow lines are a perfect solution.

  Maybe you've been lucky. I've had several near misses. Today I was going up Heartwood taking the left on to Colton. Someone was coming down Colton but didn't take the right on to Heartwood, instead went straight across and continued on Colton. Who has the right of way? Neither of us had a stop sign.

  There is no clear right of way at this intersection and there need to be warnings put up to proceed with caution. I've had several near misses at this intersection.

  I was almost hit at this intersection a few weeks ago. Extremely dangerous, especially since those who don't live in the neighborhood don't slow down to see if someone else is crossing the intersection and assunw they have the right of way.

  Gary R consider yourself lucky. I’ve nearly been t-boned 3 times in the last six weeks by drivers who are not familiar with the road. Each time I was driving up Colton and crossing over to Heartwood. The other drivers were approaching on Colton and instead of curving to the right they are going straight. Neither one of us have stop signs. So perhaps because they have not lived here since the 80s they do not know they are supposed to do something illogical, like bear right instead of go straight. So either paint some new double yellow lines or make it a four way stop but let’s stop acting like this will resolve on its own.

  I have made several requests over the last ten years for the City to examine this dangerous intersection. A four way stop sign is needed there. I have witnessed accidents and near misses at the intersection. On one occasion of an accident within the last five years, I took pictures and sent it to the Police Department and the Councilmember and nothing was done except placement of a small yellow uncontrolled intersection sign on Heartwood near the intersection with Colton.

  A couple weeks ago I even saw a police car driving straight through this intersection without slowing... A central lane is needed to indicate the main road goes towards the right.

  I've just witnessed an automobile accident today at this terrible intersection! This is my second accident I have witnessed at this corner since we've move to the neighborhood. As far as I know, no one was severely hurt. The time to act is now! Let's prevent further incidents by coming up with a solution, and hopefully there won't ever be a fatal accident.
