City leaders, time to lead...

Months later and absolutely No Action by City of Malden, how about utilizing some ARRA, Stimulus money, to restore this site?
Malden used to be a 'can do' city..now a bedroom community of strangers in high rise apartments..come on city leaders, either step and lead or get out of the way ....status quo is unacceptable

The city is ignoring maintenance in the area of the park and within it. Notice the poles that were halfway replaced with the old poles still dangling on Leonard St.? That has gone on for a year. The park was cleaned of major grafitti one year ago and now it has gang tags all over it. The traffic in and out of the park is increasing, and these are not just innocent basket ball players. What does it take for the police to crack down on the illicit activities and the city to turn this back into a recreational area without fear of attack and injury? Face it, if we do not motivate the city to fix this area, it will decay into another slum region of closed doors and closed eyes. You lose value on your property and lose quality in your life. Time to start a call regimen for our representatives. They renovated Bell Park; why is the Waite's Mount Area a second or third or worse priority?

when I was a little girl we would head up on Sundays with Dunkin donuts and play on swings and explore.When I was a teenager I used to party up there over 20 years ago.The place was a mess back then and is still a mess.The bonehead who says sell it.That is sellfish !!! The view is spectacular to not share u can see all of Boston and is a little bit of the country in the middle Of Malden.You will always have teenagers up there.No one has cared about waites mount for years.This is sad I always go up every summer.This is part of Maldens history which should be preserved!!!

Come on Malden City Officials, step up here, get some grant funding, some community monitoring and keep this historic park clean, safe and useable again.
The Bronx has stepped up to restore what little is left to enjoy, Malden used to care, Hey Ed Markey what about some funding for the social environment of your beloved hometown Malden? I hear you on NPR routinely bashing the Tea Party, Republicans, bankers etc...well how about focusing on your district? Get off the soap box and look at this mess first, then go after the robber barrons...Jimmy

Research at wonderful Malden Public Library archives documents that 'during the key Revolutionary War Battle at Bunker Hill in Charlestown residents of Malden gathered at Waite's Mount and observed cannon flashes, heard loud booming cannonade, musket shot and watched the scene of brave rebel determination from a short 12 miles away' later in day the fleeing Patriots were housed in local homes, barns, basements for days pursued by the victorius British soldiers' Col Waite, who the Mount is named after led a regiment of Patriots that day and later ran a tavern, Waite's tavern.' this is rich history and the park at Waite's Mount is steeped in the founding of our nation and the brave citizens who ensured our current liberty. Come on Malden City Fathers! Step up get some stimulus or corporate funding to preserve this significant property from its current dismal and depressing state..no excuses can dismiss this need. If necessary hire a local or two to act as the eyes and ears of the police, observe and if necessary arrest and prosecute vandals and miscreants who damage this treasure. Malden had deteriorated slowly over past 30-40 years, lost its soul to apartment complexes, big box stores, time to regroup and make this the city it was and can be...

ARRA stimulus money went where? Quality of Life is key to a community and this historic park deserves serious attention. Howard hitting the road so who has the gumption to get this cleaned up and Maintained? Anybody? Hello City Hall and Malden Police? Anybody home?

The income from the trash bags was supposed to go towards "improving city infratructure" I've been trying to get our street repaved on Fairview Ave for almost 2 1/2 years. I've changed my car suspension twice. Its ridiculous. I'm glad all of our funds have gone towards a new charter school....

Well it has been three years since my post and NOTHING has been done! Is this a slum neighborhood? Is the City too broke to clean up this historic gem? How about our new US Senator to be Rep. Ed Markey from MALDEN stepping into this and directing the city to clean up this hell hole (some Federal $?) What a disgrace, come on clean it up, assign a local neighborhood docent to keep a wary eye on the hoods' trashing it and bust anyone who violates the law, note there is only one way in and out of there so a cruiser could do a lot of good blocking the exit and the officers making the arrests...JUST DO IT!

We see that you are no stranger to the SeeClickFix system as a means of reporting issues within the City of Malden but we wanted to give you some background information on SeeClickFix and its partnership with Malden.
A few years back SeeClickFix came on the scene in Malden through a media partner as a means of reporting issues within Malden, but at the time did not have a relationship directly with City officials. For years now, it has served as a great tool to get community support for pressing issues around Malden but ultimately there was no accountability for the issues submitted as is evident by the age of some unresolved tickets. The great news is that this is about to change. Beginning Thursday, February 21st, 2013 the City of Malden will use SeeClickFix as its official resident request reporting tool.
The City of Malden has officially entered into a multi-community shared service agreement whereby SeeClickFix would be the official tool to report issues throughout all the cities in the partnership. The good news doesn’t stop there. You will not have to change anything with your SeeClickFix account however, you will have to resubmit any issues you have previously reported that are still unresolved. Please take a moment to review your SeeClickFix request(s) and resubmit them if need be.
