Because of the construction going on at Harkness Tower, pedestrians are being put in danger.
You might have to see this to understand, but what once was metered parking is now the travel lane. This means cars are moving quickly just feet from pedestrians on the east sidewalk of High Street.
When classes let out, the lone sidewalk becomes jam packed with students. What happens if a student gets bumped off the sidewalk and into a moving car?
The engineers actually made this situation. Next to the construction they actually used Jersey barriers to create an artificial sidewalk in the middle of the street, in what used to be the travel lane! Only no one is using the artificial sidewalk.
Yale should get rid of the artificial sidewalk, put the car traffic back in the middle of the street, and let the metered parking once again serve as a buffer between pedestrians and moving cars.
Either that, or SLOW DOWN the traffic to 10MPH, with temporary speed bumps and much better signage. fwiw.

Good point, Brian. The situation needs improvement and all users should be taken into consideration.
This is perhaps an opportunity to look at the entire street. There is a similar situation here: http://www.seeclickfix.com/issues/3369 and in front of Phelps Gate. You have campus roads with unacceptably high traffic speeds, combined with very large numbers of pedestrians, and a complete lack of infrastructure like raised crosswalks or even markings indicating there is a ped crosswalk.
A clear recipe for ongoing collisions and serious injuries -- a number of which have already occurred here, as well as on the other parallel streets.
