I live on West Wilson Avenue in Mooresville,NC just 3 houses away from South Academy St. People from the east side of town use this neighborhood as a shortcut, leaving us unable to safely exit our driveways. I've contacted the NCDOT to no avail. The retiming of lights in the downtown area at the request of the railroad started this issue. The town has installed a 4 way stop but it doesn't keep traffic from backing up 3-4 city blocks several times a day. The light at Broad St. and W. Wilson only allows a few cars to travel east-west at a time. Some drivers will allow us to exit but most speed by, ignoring the posted speed limit of 25mph. Some use abusive language or actions... imagine this is YOUR neighborhood. All was well until the retiming of the lights and now our once quiet neighborhood is a traffic nightmare which continues well past 11p.m. each night. The traffic to Mecklenburg county starts about 5 am. The town says they can't fix it, the state claims they can't fix it. The intersection of S. Academy and W. Wilson Ave has TOO MUCH trough traffic. Please help, WBTV!!!!
