As a South Minneapolis resident who lives a few blocks from George Floyd Square, I would like to express my concern about the city’s current plan to reopen 38th and Chicago. The memorial to George Floyd is a beautiful space that represents a historical moment. The demands put forth in the Justice Resolution document must be met before any type of reopening is considered. To do otherwise would only further perpetuate harm and injustice in our community.
