I echo that; the whole crossing is a mess. Also trying to go (straight) east is almost impossible. I feel there should be no left turn in the East facing direction

Adding a bike lane to Marin is nuts... It will make it even more chaotic. Reducing lanes north of Columbus seems like it will cause further back ups.

Sorry you feel that way. Most people at the presentation in February agreed that the proposed improvements were all very positive, and the presenters seemed very knowledgeable and to have "done their homework," from what I could tell.

It looks great for bikes and pedestrians! Which I also am some of the time. But like someone said at the meeting (read minutes) won’t really change the backup of traffic all the way from grand. And probably not change the crazy turning situation.

I would note that issues with Marin fuels cut-through traffic on Warren where pedestrian safety and motorist compliance at intersections are lacking. Effects on the entire neighborhood need to be considered.

The congestion on Marin between Columbus and Sixth Street will increase over the next 1-5 years. Not sure if this will work with all this density. There are bike lanes on Washington and Greene Street traveling north/south.

That's a cool map KathrynM! Especially given the new density, the only way to improve traffic there will be to get some people out of cars, and a bike lane network is a good way to do that. A lot of JC car trips could be replaced by (e-)bikes / scooters, but when you force mixing with car traffic you're effectively banning those modes for 99% of people.

in February on a ≤20mph pedal-assist bike, passing cars stuck in traffic most of the way.

Most ppl ages 8 to 80 can get around JC at 15-20mph on vehicles like this for 5% the cost of a car (it would solve our traffic and parking problems as well). I bought my first one in November and now have 4 😂 Let me know if you'd like to try one (we can do a safer route than Marin).

which operates under capacity constraints during peak periods. The traffic signal timing was optimized to include a Leading Pedestrian Interval to give pedestrians a head start cross Columbus Dr while maintain the throughput along Marin Blvd. We will continue you monitor this intersection as we finalize the Marin Blvd Roadway Safety Improvements project, as well as the Columbus Dr Roadway Safety Improvements project.

The intersection has only become worse in recent months at peak hours. Cars coming from either direction on Columbus can neither turn or continue straight at Marin. The resulting congestion in the intersection is dangerous for both pedestrians and bikes, and will inevitably cause fender bender too. The design of the traffic lights needs to be reconsidered, fines imposed, or a traffic officer needs to be assigned at peak hours. Is the city waiting for accidents?

Pulling all these issues into one helps us review all the issues for this intersection gives a bigger impact to see all the comments and suggestions; and allows us to update everyone in a single place.
