Is the Department of General Services slacking?

I understand that your agency is busy, but the workers who were responsible for clearing the streets on Jennings Drive, New Hope Terrace, and Rooney Road did not do so. If they did, then a terrible was done!

This is our second snowstorm, and I expected these drivers to be energized, ready for the snow and overtime because they could perform better!

I thought the streets would be have been done overnight, perhaps they are still sleeping!

Somebody needs to put fire to their A--!

Street light pole #6 has been out since May 1st like the one that was knocked down from the middle island by a drunk/reckless driver, but that street light was finally replaced after 4 months on September 1st.

Lots of suspicious and possible activities going while this light is out.

Hopefully, it will not take 4 months to have streetight #6 fixed and lit!🤞

The sidewalk was not plowed during the weekend by Hackett Park opposite North Albany Academy formerly PS #20.

As the children enjoyed the snow and ice in this park over the weekend, I saw a few people fall.

The City of Albany expects people or property owners to clear their walk and driveways, but the City failed to remove the snow!

Who will punish them for being negligent by putting taxpayers in harms way?

The stop sign on the corner of Jennings Drive and North 2nd Street is off, I placed it on the pole next to it standing up, it is anyone's guess how long that it will stay there when it is gone!

We have a lot of kids walking up down that street every day and at any time and vehicles are always driving up that street always speeding. 

It would be sad if someone or an animal were to be injured or lose their life as a result of this and for drivers who do not abide by the rules of the road.

The New Hope Terrace (North Albany) street sign has been off the pole and the floor for a few weeks

Back in December 2020, a car jumped the middle island between North 2nd and Jennings banged into the sidewalk of 29 Jennings Drive head first at night and took out some big blocks of the curb.

It was reported to the Albany Housing Authority, which they said it is a DGS issue and has remained that way since then along with a deep hole where the blocks used to be and still lay on the grass/dirt.

Note: The deep hole and blocks are not noticeable due the snow, but still exist.

I drive down Northern Boulevard every morning and there is traffic most of the time due to double parked cars from parents dropping off kids to KIPP Tech Valley Charter School or buses trying to enter or leave the parking lot, this is a safety concern!

It is unfortunate for a tragedy to happen for an immediate action or change. I would hate to hear that someone was hurt, killed or there was a severe accident due to no Crossing Guard or an authorized person to properly direct traffic or ease the constant congestion, this is a safety concern!

Northern Boulevard between the 2 schools NEEDS traffic enforcement ASAP before someone becomes an example of what could have been prevented!

This is a safety concern!

I drive down Northern Boulevard every morning during the week and noticed there is always traffic near KIPP Tech Valley Middle School even more now with all the snow.

School buses ilding in the middle of the street waiting to turn into the parking lot.

Most of the times cars are double parked by adults with children trying to cross the street.

There is a man who stands outside the parking lot entrance and does nothing at all maybe it is not his job.

This 2 digital speeds signs posted opposite from each are not helpful nor followed and are accidents or a fatality waiting to happen unless something is done ASAP!

The CDTA #22 bus shelter needs to be shoveled, there is nowhere to stand safely and don't want to sit on those dirty seats to wait for a bus.

Can you please send a team to clear a sizaable path or remove the snow.

It is funny how lower Albany-Shaker Road gets redone which it does need in comparison to how Jennings Drive continues to look like!

Maybe the timing on Pole #10 is off because it did come on in the day time but did not stay on at night.

I did notice last week that it blinked a few times during the night then shut off

The entire street of Jennings Drive needs to be desperately paved, no quick fixes of filling the holes.

Jennings Drive is so bad to drive on especially when the deep pot holes are filled with water after it rained.

I have seen and heard many cars speed down Jennings and hear a big thump from the tires hitting the pot holes.

This is a problem that is getting worse by the day and should be repaired properly with No Patchwork!

Just because Jennings Drive falls within the Albany Housing Authority doesn't mean we should be treated like second class citizens, we are tax payers too!

I asked AHA, they said it is a City problem, I call the City they say it is an AHA problem, I know AHA does not plow our streets but DGS does.

DGS has hard working staff, so please tell Sergio that his dept can do better than this.

Around 3:30 pm, I finished shoveling the big pile of snow from the end of my driveway after the DGS (Truck #578, white male with yellow shirt) plowed me in.

I literally put my shovel away and stood on my porch when the same driver (Truck #578, white male with yellow shirt)) came back around and plowed more big chunks of snow at the end of my driveway, WTF!

The men and women of Department of General Services do a great job in the many things they do and I am not knocking what they are paid to do but I am also not physically fit to be shoveling the snow that constantly gets put at the end of my driveway especially when they are big hard chunks and difficult to break down!

PLEASE advise your staff to be sympathetic to people who have to plow their cars or driveways, if they know what the words means.
