The apron and sidewalk at Raynham Rd. and the private lane has disintegrated. We reached out to our alderperson both last Autumn and again this Spring to address the situation as it is a city responsibility. The neighbors pitched in to have the lane repaved, but the concrete sidewalk and apron still need to be addressed. Currently the sidewalks on Kneeland Rd. are being redone. Could this not be addressed now as well? Thanks!

First step is to have Public Works inspect the location and make a determination about the sidewalk. If there is a city factor impacting the sidewalk's condition (ie. tree) then the city is responsible for grinding/repair. If damage is caused by wear/tear/neglect and would pose a safety hazard, we at Public Works will try to alleviate the hazard by patching it and then deem a full repair is the "resident's responsibility".

In some cases, if area being impacted is severe and involves more than one address, area can be reviewed by the Resource Allocation Committee for a major project. Engineering would oversee new sidewalk replacements.

We at Public Works will always work with property owners to explore how best to get the work done.

Seems like it takes an act of congress to get this repair done......isn't this one of the things we pay taxes for ?? C'mon City officials, just get this done....its NOT a moon launch !!

Agreed that this is a priority for all of us who use this lane. Worth noting: the damage over time is clearly the result of sanitation trucks collecting refuse and recyclables every week. It's not the result of passenger car traffic. Thanks!!

The apron is broken and will collapse if not fixed soon. The city should act quickly to allow safe use for the residents and their vehicles. Not fixing the apron will prevent residents who live nearby from using the road including the sanitation trucks.
For the sake of everyone, kindly fix the apron as soon as possible and consider taking care of it this summer if applicable.

This repair is of urgent priority for our family with two small children who walk and bike over the completely disintegrated apron and sidewalk and who could sustain serious injury. The significant damage is clearly the result of the heavy sanitation trucks that cross it to collect trash and recyclables.

We also travel over this several times a day with two small children. They used to think it was a game when the car would bump over the original surface - now they actually moan and say it hurts them because the car is so badly jostled (even with four wheel drive). The potholes and erosion are not only a safety issue for all of the residents who use the road, but are also now severe enough to cause damage to our cars. Please fix as soon as possible - it has become far worse in the past year since we first asked. Thank you.

Thanks to our alder Sal DeCola for his quick response! We heard back this morning that the city will put a temporary patch for safety with a more permanent fix hopefully by September. Thank you all!

It is now April 2023 and none of the promised repairs have happened. We have sent repeated requests over a period of two years. There are 17 households who use this sidewalk and the entrance to the private road (which we all paid a lot of money to have paved and which the trash and recycling trucks also use). When will this be properly resolved? When somebody is badly injured or their vehicle damaged? Every time we send a request we are told it is a duplicate and our original request has been archived. Our pleas are duplicates because nothing has yet been done. Thank you

I recommend that the interested parties band together and sue the City for failure to maintain public spaces or whatever law it violates. Seems like there is only money for bums and drug addicts in NH.

Actually, TAMC, the sidewalk was redone perfectly last year and we are very happy with the services we receive for our tax dollars here in our neighborhood.
