This is in the public right of way on Webster Street. The sidewalk was removed over ten days ago. Has an inspector from the City been out? It is a trip and fall hazard. Writing, "Watch Your Step, Board Loose" does not seem like a legitimate way to handle the hazard.

Status? The sidewalk was removed two weeks ago and replaced with wooden boards. This is in a busy pedestrian area and directly in front of the U.S. Post Office. Were those who removed the sidewalk issued permits? If so, who on city staff is responsible for monitoring compliance? Has anyone from city staff visited the site in the past two weeks? Who is the responsible party?

The work being done at 1415 Webster is being done the Post Office. They have hired a contractor, who got a permit from the City of Alameda Community Development Department. The contractor is installing an air conditioning unit and had to remove several squares of concrete to do this work. This is all under the permit and the Central Permits Office would be the ones inspecting the work, not the Public Works sidewalk inspector #3.
