Have you called LCI and/or your alder about this problem.? Just posting on SCF is not a guarantee that your complaint will be monitored or addressed. If the people you contact do not help you, make note who you will or will not vote for in the next election. People need to be accountable to the people of this fair city.

It's not a city owned lot. LCI has been in contact with the owners to have them clean property. It was trimmed and partially cut down a month or so ago which is why the sidewalk could finally be seen. A follow up request was put in last month regarding compliance ....and maintenance of property. I will follow up to make sure they are on top of this and a paper trail is in place.

Ward19 is any development of this lot prevented by water issues? Or could it theoretically be developed?

It is a big eyesore, indeed. Is the problem that the lot is unsuited for development, so the owners have no incentive to maintain it?

I find it interesting that this address is not listed on the City of New Haven Tax site: https://www.mytaxbill.org/inet/bill/search.do . Why is the property not listed. As I understand the owner is a contractor who lives in Florida. To say the property is neglected is an understatement.

@ward19 and @jff and @LCI the property in question is: 141 Ogden Street. It looks as though it was last sold in 2016. I cannot find tax records for the property: was it rolled into an adjacent property? At one time, the former owner also owned the small yellow house that borders it at the rear of the property in question; that house fronts on Cliff Street. I walked past 141 Huntington St today: the sidewalk is in very condition and the lot is totally overgrown with weeds and volunteer saplings. Are penalties levied against such properties?

The lot was split from the small yellow house when it was listed for sale in 2013. I've heard a contractor who knows the former owner (Edi) bought the land and lives in Baltimore.

The overgrowth is also impacting the adjacent lots.

@LCI and @ward19 is there any mechanism for levying fines and penalties against derelict owners? Can a lien be placed on the property?

@LCI @LindaDavis et al., if these questions should be directed to another agency could you please tell me what that agency is? Seems to me that with vegetation growing across the sidewalk and deteriorating sidewalk that is the responsibility of the property owner (absentee in Florida?) the City of New Haven could be levying fines on the order of $100 daily, and/or placing a lien on the property.

@LCI the adjacent property owners contribute mightily to the City of New Haven's tax collections each year, and it is not right that an out-of-town scofflaw property owner should be permitted to neglect this lot.

I hear that @ward19 is pursuing answers regarding this blighted property. @LCI @LindaDavis, any information?

Hi Lynn, an anti-blight violation Letter has been sent to the owner of this property. LCI has reached out to the owner.
