Tired of having to wait for 3 lights in order to get off freeway. Also...people in turn lane to get on Rt 2 east tend to block traffic trying to turn onto E. 305 Northbound from said freeway ramp.
The traffic light coming off west bound route 2 exit ramp and 305 needs to have a timer. It doesnt make sense in the early morning hours to have to sit and wait for the light to turn green when no other traffic is around.
Cars turning left to Rt 2 east on ramp have no concept of what the heavy white line means! When your light is red your vehicle should not be past the line. They pull up past it, then when the light goes red they will not turn. Now the exit ramp traffic in the 305 north turning lane is blocked and the result is very few cars get off the exit ramp. Writing tickets for this will create a lasting memories for people who do this constantly.
Also, people tend to turn left onto East 305th Street from OH-2 East from the right left-hand turning lane and then continue on East 305th Street. This is the lane for drivers intending on turning right onto North Marginal. Many of these drivers accelerate and cut off the drivers that are in the correct lane for East 305th Street travel. This is not by mistake, these people likely live in the area and do this everyday to avoid waiting for multiple light behind the 10+ cars waiting in the correct lane. The far left lane being blocked by East 305th Street southbound driver who pull up past the white line further promotes this behavior to drive recklessly and cut off other drivers.

Every evening while waiting on the exit ramp from Rt 2 Eastbound at E305, I see 2, 3, 4, even 5 cars heading northbound on E305 go right through the red light. There are so many close calls from the cars starting to come off the exit ramp and then another car zooms through heading north almost getting hit. Plus it delays the cars getting off the exit ramp heading north on 305, making the backup on the ramp even worse, and then the people turning north from the exit ramp seem to turn the tables and continue to exit after their light has turned red. It would be nice nice to see the police nab some of these folks who ignore the light changing.
This intersection is a huge cluster...I avoid it at all costs and actually drive past my house to take the Lloyd Rd. exit to avoid the confused drivers who don't know what they are doing.
Needs a left turn arrow to enter the ramp onto rt 2 East....The intersection is dangerous, as cars are turning onto 305 North from Lakeland West and East ,making it a game of chance to get on the ramp.
The whole intersection needs revamped.... It was designed decades ago when less cars ruled the road...............
Going North before the traffic light, the left turn/ straight flow lane gets jammed up before the light and past the bridge. The right turn-only is a crap-shoot plus the idiots that decide to cut over left so they can go straight North on E305. That whole intersection before and after the Rt 2 bridge is an accident waiting to happen...
This intersection needs some police monitoring or traffic cameras because when your light turns green, you always have to wait for at least three cars to run their newly red light before you can drive through.
Wow! what did we do to deserve this. We brought this problem to light and now we are being punsihed. The traffic light timing has been changed. Now from 3:00pm til 6:00pm eastbound exiting traffic is backed up onto the freeway while only two to three cars can get out. The northbound light stays red causing all the cars to backup to Lakeland Blvd. By the time that clears the exit ramp light has timed out. We are not your lab rats, get this problem fixed!
The timing of the lights are totally screwed up! Traffic is backing up on Rt 2 almost to the Lloyd Rd Exit. I've sat and watched as the light changes and only 1 or 2 cars can safely exit the ramp northbound to E305th St. You'd think the PD would notice the congestion or perhaps they steer clear of that intersection at rush hour?
The recent emphasis for road rant has been on Euclid Ave/Rt 20 & Rt 91 where there's been more (?) accidents and near-misses.The N-H has mentioned the Rt 2 / E 305 intersection traffic congestion. While there dosen't seem to be a simple solution for this gauntlet, you would think there would be some published traffic studies, particularly for rush hours. At the least, they should try re-timing the lights and clearly marking the lanes and add overhead signage. Maybe the minimal effort is to put live traffic control police there during rush hours until a more permanent solution is worked out. We won't go into the idiot impatient drivers who have the 'me first' attitude and don't care about common road courtesies...
That car in the turning lane to get onto Rt 2 East is ALWAYS in the way even if the car is at the designated line - move the line back (although this doesn't help when the person is way over and doesn't make the turn during the allotted time.
I believe that Wickliffe and Willowick border each other on that intersection. Maybe the two police departments need to work together on the situation. Or the freeway ramps are under the state of Ohio's jurisdiction. Someone needs to get the responsible parties together and solve this.
While there have been many complaints and frustrations with this traffic situation, probably not much will done by the locals or state until there is a major accident where serious injuries and/or deaths are involved...
Perhaps one solution to reduce congestion at E 305 & Rt 2 exits might be to divert freeway traffic to the Rt 91 and Lloyd Rd exit ramps during designated rush hours
I still think, and have been saying it for a few years now, they should re-do the whole intersection. They should have the entrance ramps up on Lakeland and that would lighten up the load a little in the intersection, or come up with a better way to make it easier. Maybe a entrance/exit like they have at mayfield. Anything would be better.
It takes me 12 minutes to get from Cleveland to
East 305 and 15 minutes to get off the exit ramp? Someone DO SOMETHING.
If you think it's bad now, what's going to happen when they start construction in that area?
Never thought of that. that is a GREAT idea... it works like that in euclid.... i live right at Barjode and 305... i think is an accident every 2 weeks at least... definately needs re- vamped totally! ANYTHING!
I go to Worden and work my way through the side streets to get home from work every evening because traffic is horrible. If you don't get stuck by a train you sit at the light for 20 minutes because everyone is stuck. In the morning it takes me longer to get up 305 then it does to go down 6 to get to work in Chardon. it is horrible
I know alot of people are using that exit as a way of avoiding construction at 91, Vine and Lost Nation. I know we do. We live at Lost Nation and Lake Shore and have been getting off at 305 because it was easier than trying to get through the construction and closed ramps etc. I think with the extra traffic diverting through there, police are needed to maintain traffice flow. There IS going to be a serious accident there, why not fix the problem BEFORE someone gets hurt instead of waiting until someone DOES get hurt? (by the way, we do not go that way at night anymore since they reopened the Lost Nation ramp, only in the morning now)
Does anybody know who is responsible for maintaning these traffic lights? We need to find out who they are and inform the public on how to contact them to make these complaints known. There is another ticket open on this subject ( Rt2-E305 Multiple intersections & traffic signals=1 big mess! ) with 50 posts. This is not a minor issue.
Talked to Mayor of Wickliffe since they control the traffic lights there. He said to avoid E 305 exit ramp and get off at Lloyd Rd exit. There is nothing they can do
That does not sound like a valid answer. If Wickliffe cannot handle it maybe they should hire an engineering firm to sort it out. It looks like they are sticking their head in the sand on this one.
