While I agree that this is a problem area and more paint/signs are needed to cue people in to predictable traffic patterns, I think parking on the street here is good. It helps cue through-traffic into paying attention to where they are going. Narrower predictable lanes are also safer than a 30' wide lane where people don't know what they should do.
