The City and State are spending $3 billion on the I-95/I-91 rehab and expansion, including the new Q bridge.
Despite that fact, it is still quite uncomfortable, if not impossible, for people of all ages and abilities to safely travel across the Quinnipiac River via biking or walking - and will be for quite some time, barring funding to create complete street improvements such as a cycle track.
Cycle riders in their 20s and 30s have some sharrows and signs, which is great, but the majority of 8 year olds or 80 year olds are not going to be biking or walking over any of the bridges or roadways here, ever, until they are actually made safe.
Given that the vast majority of city residents do not drive in a car to work every day, this is a gross violation of social justice. Intervention from the Governor's office is needed immediately.
What? No bridle path? I'm outraged! Maybe you could ride across the roofs of cars that are stuck in the gridlock. You know, belonging to people who actually work.
